“The last man who told me that … is buried out there.”
Having equipped himself for self-defense and vigilante justice, Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) has a big surprise in store for a knife-wielding mugger on the New York subway, in DEATH WISH.
List ‘Em Carefully - The Top Ten Songs from The Simpsons
From season 13, this song is featured as part of a plot where Grandpa starts driving again to impress a lady at his retirement home. This song was nominated for an Emmy and strikes me as funny and interesting for the following reason: the song is a celebration of former stars who have fallen into obscurity and must now perform in this small Missouri town, but this is a fate that The Simpsons have watched befall on contemporaries while remaining immune to it themselves. Because it is animated, the show could literally run forever. This song reminds of an awesome gag from this episode: the I-wish-it-were-real town of “Bronson” where everyone looks like Charles Bronson.
